The joys of a 16-character display

Riding in a friend's car the other day, I noticed XM radio was playing "I'm An Adult Now" by "The Pursuit of H."

If you're in pursuit of H, you'd better be an adult.

Hot potato

This is from a recipe for baked potatoes published by the American Heart Association:

Preheat oven to 4250 F.
Scrub potatoes with a brush.
Pat dry.
Prick in several places.
Bake for 40 to 60 minutes, or until tender.
Lower heat to 3500 F.

Conspiracy!

It seems as if there are more Starbucks opening every day. I thought little of it until I noticed a pamphlet at a Starbucks entitled, "We want to read your thoughts."

Scary stuff.

Windows replacement

I keep getting these unsolicited email adverts for "Windows replacement." Naturally, I get excited and filled with anticipation. Will it be Linux? Will it be Mac OS X? Or maybe FreeBSD! But they turn out to be transparent glass rectangles. <Sigh>

300

In his review of the movie 300, Mike Wright of Norman wrote in the Oklahoma Gazette for March 21, 2007:

"As for Thermopylae, the number 300 refers to the fact that the Spartans used 150 pairs of men who were in homosexual relationship with one another. This history is valuable to know, because it undermines the stereotype of gay men as being mostly effeminate sissy boys.

"Hypermasculinity is idealized in gay male culture. Homosexual men enjoyed the upper hand in the ancient Greek world because they were the most ferocious fighters."

One can only imagine they enjoyed the lower hand even more. ;-)
